Following a successful bid to Creative Scotland’s Creative Traineeship programme we are looking to recruit a Dance Participation Artist Trainee. Our professional work is directly linked to our participatory work, and the two are inter-dependent with one inspiring the other. This position is an important role for the development of the company in extending the engagement and reach of our participatory work. It is a full time post for one year.
Applicants must be based in Scotland and be between the ages of 20-30
This is a full time position for one year with a salary of £15,000.
The Dance Participation Artist will have the opportunity to:
Shadow and work with choreographer Natasha Gilmore and Barrowland Ballet lead dance artists in developing and researching dance material for participant performance projects. Working independently or in conjunction with the lead dance artist and choreographer in the delivery of participatory dance projects. Supporting the physical engagement of the participants and helping them to gain the best experience possible. They would work to develop new opportunities for Barrowland Ballet outreach programme, from fundraising and project planning to delivery.
The trainee would aspire to an ultimate goal of working in the creation and delivery of participatory dance projects. They would need to be a dance graduate in order to be able support the delivery of the participation programme. The development opportunities they receive would presume this baseline of graduate dance experience and skills.
