It’s week three into the creation period of our new piece Whiteout and we are quite literally dancing up a storm – it’s been a whirlwind of devising, setting the structure of the show, making a film, getting to know the new dancers/making new friends and getting back into an upbeat routine of morning class and full dancing days. Lights, camera, action. This week we began shooting the film. It’s great fun being on set and working with the film crew and director Andrew Cumming , alongside Natasha and Candice. Doing lots of takes can be challenging but we’re happy because it means we’ll get the perfect shot. Another benefit is that the sections of the live show that are also in the film are becoming extremely well rehearsed.
Something I’ve particularly been enjoying this week has been getting my make done and hair done every morning by professional make up artists, Anna Higgins and Christine Reynolds. So I’m feeling pretty glamorous, which is also down to Jenni Lööf’s gorgeous costumes. It certainly makes a different from the usual rehearsal look, which is baggies, no-make up and sweaty messy hair.
