Barrowland Ballet Youth Company is straying off the beaten track… to Go Dance 16! /

It has been a really great couple of months working with Barrowland Ballet Youth Company- It’s been a lot of fun working with such a creative bunch of young dancers! We’ve been working on a new piece ‘Lost I.T’ , inspired by the story of Little Red Riding Hood and touching on society’s addiction to phones and social media causing us to ‘stray off the beaten track’ and get lost in the dangers that come with modern technology.

We had the pleasure of performing this at Festival Theatre, Edinburgh as part of their annual ‘DanceFest’ in January, which went down a treat. It was warmly received by the audience and we’ve had great feedback from the family and friends who kindly came to support us. This exciting time has been boosted by the return of choreographer Jade Adamson after a busy period touring with the main company, and a few members either joining or re-joining the youth company. Just in time, I might add, for our performance at Go Dance 16 on March 1st at Glasgow Theatre Royal where we will be performing a developed and extended version of ‘Lost I.T’ with a bigger cast.

We’ve just had our last creation period rehearsal where we finished the structure of the piece so we’re nearly ready for performance day. We’re all really happy with how the piece has developed and we have all learnt something from the process. We are incredibly excited to share this new piece with you all.

Next stop; Go Dance 16!
