Well, the tour kicked off with quite a roar last weekend: five shows, teaching, travelling and lots of tiger teamwork.
We spent Thursday and Friday in Mussleburgh, where we delivered a tiger inspired workshop at Campie Primary School before performing at the Brunton Theatre. You can see photos from the workshop, it was a delight to engage with the children and build up excitement before they came to see the show. Seeing their enthralled and familiar faces in the audience was a lovely experience. We were lucky to have some time to relax in between the shows and see a bit of the town. If you ever get the chance to go Musselburgh it has some great little charity shops and an excellent Ice-cream parlour called S. Luca.
Saturday saw us catch the train west to Greenock – home of the swish new venue Beacon Arts Centre. If there was an award for dance studio with the best view this place would be a top contender: with a floor to ceiling, wall to wall window looking out over the Clyde to Dumbarton, it’s sensational. We had a great couple of shows in their studio theatre and also had the pleasure of sharing backstage with the jovial local cast of Wizard of Oz, who were performing in the main house.
Our busy weekend culminated in a performance at the grand and nostalgic Paisley Town Hall. It was such a treat to arrive in the dressing room to find a bowl of fresh fruit, biscuits, tea, coffee, mineral water and a couple of chaise lounges to loll on post-show.
The audiences for all five shows were warm and receptive, thanks to all of you who made it along. The reviews have been amazing too, all four and five star. You can check them out on the website,Facebook or @Barrowlballet on Twitter. I feel very lucky to be working with such an incredible team and on another strong and challenging production with Barrowland Ballet. Come along to one of our shows soon it would be great to see you there.
Will keep you posted and thanks for reading.
