We’re absolutely delighted to be invited to perform Whiteout at Merseyside Dance Initiative’s (MDI) upcoming LEAP Dance Festival; this will be Whiteout’s English premiere performance and currently the only English tour date for 2017. LEAP Festival 2017 will be celebrating its 25th anniversary in Liverpool and will be performed in a converted warehouse in the vibrant North Dockland area; we cannot wait to perform in such a unique pop-up dance space.
Edinburgh based dance artist, Joanne Pirrie is joining the company for the upcoming performance. She says:
“I saw Whiteout during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe last year and was both moved and uplifted by it’s honesty, boldness and tenderness. I couldn’t wait to delve into it, and whilst learning and trying to make the role my own felt like a bit of a mammoth undertaking, the other dancers have just been so wonderfully generous, patient and supportive. This is one of those pieces which is such a pleasure to dance – albeit completely exhausting. But I am also truly humbled and honored to be part of a work that is not only of great socio-political importance, but is also very human, and so personal to the artists who created it. Despite being somewhat terrified for the weekend, I’m definitely excited to share the work with an audience.”
We’re really looking forward to our performance at 7.30pm, Saturday 4th March and hope that you can join us.
